Washington Elementary School Dress Code 2018 - 2019

The purpose of the Washington dress code is to ensure an equitable learning environment for all students.

Bottoms: Pants/ Shorts/ Skirts/ Skorts/ Jumpers
What you can wear: 
*Solid, school colors ONLY: khaki navy blue, black, blue denum
*Jeans, cords, slacks, shorts, capris, cargos, jeggings/leggings, skirts, and jumpers
* Students must wear shorts or tights in uniform colors under skirts or jumpers

What you can't wear: 
*Patterns (stripes, polka dots, prints)
*Logos, emblems, glitter, lace, sequins or other embellishments
*Rips
*Anything shorter than 2 inches above the knee (even with leggings under them)

Tops: Shirts/ Sweaters/ Sweatshirts
What you can wear: 
*Solid, single colored tops in school colors ONLY: red, navy blue, black, white
*Polo shirts, blouses with a collar, or Washington logo t-shirts in school colors only
*Sweatshirts/sweaters/vests in single solid school color or with our Washington Elementary logo

What you can't wear: 
*Patterns (stripes, polka dots, prints)
*Logos, piping, emblems, glitter, lace, sequins or other embellishments
*Rips
*Spirit Wear (ex: track shirts, Young Ambassador sweatshirts, other school logo, chess club shirts, metro parks sports shirts). NOTE: these can be worn on free dress Fridays. 

Accessories / Socks
What you can wear: 
*Solid color headbands in school colors
*Hair bows and ties in school colors
*If socks are visible, they need to be in solid school colors only
*Tights in solid school colors under jumpers, dresses or skirts
*Appropriate shoes for participation in Physical Education Activities

What you can't wear: 
*Hats
*headbands with patterns, logos, glitter, or other adornments / embellishments
*Socks with patterns, logos, other embellishments

Outerwear and sweatshirts not in school colors must remain in student lockers 

The following are inappropriate and unacceptable dress, even on free dress, or theme dress days: high heel shoes, flip flops, open-toed shoes, tank tops, halter tops, low cut tops, sleeveless tops, sleeveless dresses, swimsuits, bare midriffs see-through clothing, miniskirts, running shorts, boxers, This includes clothing that advertises or promotes the use of drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, or contain references with are racist profane, vulgar, discriminatory, and /or sexual in nature.
