Fundraising fun fact! Have you seen your student come home with an AR report or perhaps heard them talking about “taking an AR test for this book I’m reading?” Accelerated Reader is a program used by our teachers. The annual cost for Washington Elementary for this school year was $5,190.42. The teachers requested these funds during the last PTA budgeting process and - thanks to phenomenal fundraising efforts by Washington students and families - PTA was able to cover this expense.
Fun fact! The fundraising we do this year supports our teachers and students next year!
Thanks to the outstanding efforts of last year’s fundraising, members at the first PTA meeting of the school year were able to vote to approve Mr.Schau’s request to fund a second lunch time recess monitor. Funds usually provided by the district for this expense were cut. Instead of asking teachers and staff to rearrange their days - and instead of Washington students not getting to have a 50-minute lunch/recess break - Washington PTA members approved funding in the amount of $5,000 to cover the district shortfall. Keeping our kids safe is important to us all!
