First Lego League introduced younger students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.
As part of FLL Lego League, you will get to:
- Design, build and program robots using LEGO Mindstorms technology
- Apply real-world math and science concepts
- Research challenges facing today's scientists
- Learn critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills
IMPORTANT NOTE
League League is for learning, using your imagination and building. We also plan on having lots of fun, but please remember Lego League requires listening, sitting, concentrating and working together.

COST
There is a cost involved in being a part of Lego League. Initial setup costs for a team's first year is approximately $880. Each year after that the team cost is $400-500. We are hoping to have around 10 kids involved which will spread around the cost. Also we would love for parents to help out with a fundraiser to help reduce the cost for everyone a bit. If we did a car wash, or something over the summer and raised a few hundred dollars, that could reduce the cost for everyone. The end result should be about $50 per child or comparable to what it would cost for your child to be on a youth sport team.

HELP NEEDED
Managing the team is a group effort. We are looking for parents who would like to help assist the kids during team meetings and help with fundraising over the summer. We will also need to borrow a couple laptops during each meeting from the families involved for programming the robots.

WHERE?
Do you have a child who wants to be part of Lego League and you also have a basement or area in your home where the team could meet? Ideally, we would meet at the school, but unfortunately there isn't a set area where we can have our "Playing Field Table" set-up during the season. So, we are looking for someone who could volunteer their home as the meeting location during the season (Sept-Dec).
Contact Jeff Boly if you think you have just the spot! A 4 x 8 work surface will be built for the robot course and construction, so the space should be big enough for that, chairs, 10 kids and a couple adults.

MEETING TIMES
We haven't set a meeting time yet for next year, but we are envisioning it being a couple evenings a week, possibly a weekend day during the end of the season.
