Academic Triathlon Pledges
Encourage your student to collect Academic Triathlon pledges - only one week left. These tax-deductible donations are the only way we support some great school assemblies. And, of course, those who collect the most in each grade do get a limo ride and lunch with Dr. Knight and Miss Peggy.

Petition for a Hoyt Crossing Guard

We respectfully request the Tacoma School District fund a crossing guard, before and after school, at 28th and Union.

While the Washington site does have a crossing guard, the separate Hoyt site, with nearly 100 kindergarden and 1st graders attending each school day, does not. Hoyt is located on Union Avenue with a 30 MPH speed limit. Parking congestion and fast cars create an unsafe environment. A crossing guard will make the crossing at 28th and Union much safer. The crossing guard will also make that intersection eligible for designation as a 20 MPH School Zone. Please help by adding your name to this petition to show the Tacoma School District our concerns.

Thank you,
the Washington-Hoyt PTA

Fill out the form at http://www.wahoyt.org/crossingguard.html

April 27th - Childrens Author and Illustrator Nina Laden. Her website is http://www.ninaladen.com/ . Here is her description of the assembly. "I love to inspire students and teachers. My programs are interactive and tailored to grade level. In my programs, I discuss how I got started, including showing a book that I made when I was in the fourth grade. I stress keeping sketchbooks/journals and I share mine. I shed light on the writing process, from concept to finished book. I will read from my work. Then I do a unique presentation on character creation that will enlighten and inspire students to draw their own characters with my help. I always encourage questions and stress individuality, not perfection."

Around Town

As you can see, we are up and running and ready to rock and roll!

Now all we need is you!
Puget Sound Meat Producers Cooperative is launching a major membership drive hoping to add 125 local meat producers to our ranks. The market is screaming for local meat and we know you are out there growing it. Help us to help you get quality local meat to your local customers. Farmers Markets throughout the region anxiously await meat vendors from PSMPC to sell their wares in the 2010 season.

We are also conducting a capital investment campaign to build operating capital and purchase a refrigerated delivery vehicle. Please consider purchasing capital stock or making a donation to our non-profit organization.
