Fall Gardening News: Some of the Washington classes are about to head out to the garden for fall harvesting, weeding and cover crop planting. Volunteer parents would be really appreciated! You would be asked to attend for an hour during school time to help kids garden, then help garden coordinator Rosemary Ponnekanti in chopping and prepping veggies in the classroom. Please let your teacher know if you can do this. Gardening is great for kids!

"An African-American woman actually came to our door today and when we would not cooperate, she got a bit testy and rang our doorbell a ton so we’d know she was displeased, she then went two doors down and actually starting screaming at our neighbor when he told her no, and no, and NO, she gets aggravated if you do not participate, she was drinking from a solo cup, so the whole thing is weird, weird, weird."

Those of us who live in the Proctor neighborhood have probably seen the results of the catastrophic house fire that took place on July 30th. The Lysons had lived in the house at 1902 N. Proctor for 15 years. The house and almost all its contents were destroyed. Carl and Carolyn and their 11 year-old son, Andreas, are living with Carolyn's parents while they figure out their next move.
An account has been set up in their name through the Proctor Farmers' Market at Rainier Pacific Bank. All donations will be provided to the Lysons to help them buy the basic supplies they need. If you would like to make a donation, please make it to: "The Proctor Farmers' Market--Lyson Fire Fund."
